The Galeria Arte & Memória and Sacatar Foundation bring to Igatu the exhibition "Voices from Iran", providing its residents and the visiting public a glimpse into a country whose society is the result of one of the oldest civilizations, proposing an art show which extends beyond our borders and points to new perspectives on Iran.

Iran is a country where social issues and politics emanate controversy throughout the West and yet it is a hotbed of successful artistic initiatives, specially in film, visual arts and architecture fields.

There are 14 photographs, two videos and graphic design works, which are interrelated to display a panorama of its society: women and their condition overwhelmed by moral codes, the theocratic system in which the state bowed to religious dogma that has condemned the country to an isolation and an unprecedented setback, including therein the political persecution and dictatorship imposed on its people, and the human rights issue which find little echo in their institutions.

This exhibition was conceived with the aim of enabling the Iranian artists to expand their artistic discourse to the world, as well as provide full freedom of expression, opposing censorship exists in that country whose government still holds a tight grip on the cultural and artistic production in Iran.

Moreover, it is shown in this view, an artistic movement that seeks in the signs of this society express itself to the world, presenting a people whose hidden faces may reveal themselves in their best.
